Restricted visitation policies can lead to patient's increase of anxiety and fear. It might also cause increase stress level to the family members. The goal is to reduce infection risk. However, having an open-door policy where visitor is allowed to ICU patient might help improve their well being and can reduce their anxiety. But still, it might increase incidents of hospital aquired infection. It will always depends to the treating physician, there may be times that visitation is not advised.

When it comes to Intensive Care Unit visitation, should it be an open-door policy or restricted? What are your thoughts? How might restricted visitation policies impact the emotional well-being of ICU patients and their families?
